Taking the Plunge - Finally

Well the time has finally come.  Time to put my money where my mouth is.

I am officially registered for my very very very first inline event.  The Roller Montreal Marathon on May 11th, 2008.  http://www.mtlroller42k.com/index-en.html

Now I only have 3.5 weeks to learn how to stay low for more than 3km without my back spasming.  Should be a super fun 3.5 weeks.  I am hoping to skate every night from this point onwards so who wants to come out and play on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays?

Great!

Excellent Cor! I know you'll have a blast, races are way too much fun. You know I can empathize with the back issues, the best thing you can do is learn to skate low and trust those legs, and stand up when you need to. I'll be looking forward to your report. One thing in your training - you ought to try and get some interval training in once per week until the race. They are hugely important for marathon training.

Re: Great!

Hey Tom

I try to do a few intervals from time to time but I don't get to do them as often as I should. Our indoor sessions focus on them at times so I try to take advantage of those times.

I am pretty confident that if I had better technique I wouldn't have as many issues. But I am striving to fix one thing at a time. See you this summer for sure!

Re: Great!

Sounds good, I'm sure you'll do fine. You think you'll come out to the Chicago race?

Finally Cor can get some street cred. :-) Your first race will be tough but I think you'll get a respectful finish time. I'm assuming you signed up for the 21? At the end of the year you'll skate a 21 and wonder what the big deal was.

I'm always up for a skate. I might pop over and check out the parkway tonight.

Greg
See you at NRC tonight mister Brown. Street cred? That made me laugh.

Wait a minute here...21k? Cor, are you sure it's not 42k? You can't throw down a challenge and we don't even end up in the same race!

Candy
Umm, 42? Are you crazy? Give the man a break will ya! Okay I will make you a deal. You can take your 42K time and divide it by 2 and compare it with my 21K. That is fair right? ;)

I might to a 42 at the end of the season. "might"

What's that strange whistling sound? Must be Cor's street cred dropping :-)
