As you know, yesterday was the 2nd Invitational here in Ottawa and it went off without a hitch. Aside from the strong Ottawa showing, we were pleasantly surprised to see skaters from Toronto and Montreal in town to support the event. Thanks guys and gals.
As you can see from the pics below, Travis Shaw (short track skater extrodinare) dropped in and represented Toronto with a very strong showing. Although not a self proclaimed distance skater, he was a force to be reckoned with in the short sprints. You can never turn your back on those Torontonians, they will sneak up on you every time.
Not to be undone, speedster Xavier Charon dragged his parents to Ottawa as well and let me assure you this little guy can skate! Coming in 2nd in his semi final race (against adults) and 3rd in the finals was no laughing matter. The improvements are obvious. In another year, this kid is going to my main competition. Uh oh.
As predicted, the usual suspects were the clear leaders. Benoit, Stephane, Dominique, Travis, Stephane C., Erwin...etc. showed why they are in the top echelon of this sport. They are just untouchable.
So thanks to everyone who came out to play. I hope you had fun and enjoyed yourselves. Next up, Run for Reach. See you soon.
